Reading an Article
Headings, lists and worked examples (here: VAT returns due one calendar month and seven days after the period end), with category, visibility and tags alongside.
Built for UK accountants, bookkeepers and growing accountancy practices.
How it works
An SOP is only useful if people can follow it. The Remindoo article view presents each guide with a summary, proper headings and bullet lists, so a reviewer can scan the structure and a junior can work through it step by step. The VAT Return Submission Guide shown here is a good example: an Information to Check list (sales and purchase invoices, VAT rates and exemptions, period dates, VAT control account reconciliation), a Submission Deadline section with a worked date example, and a Final Review step before submitting through the appropriate HMRC service.
Category, visibility and tags sit alongside the content, so readers know who the guide is for and how it is classified. Attachments and related links keep supporting material with the procedure rather than scattered elsewhere: a PDF of guidance, or a link to a video walkthrough for visual learners.
At the foot of each article, read time, total views, likes and a star rating give managers evidence that staff are actually using the firm's procedures. That is useful for quality control reviews and for training records. It also supports Making Tax Digital work: when VAT figures are reviewed against a consistent checklist every quarter, the firm reduces errors, rework and the risk of late or incorrect returns.

Why recording every task matters in an accountancy practice
Accounting firms run on deadlines: VAT returns, payroll, confirmation statements, accounts and Self Assessment. Recording every job as a task, with an owner and a date, is the simplest way to make sure nothing is missed.
Avoid penalties
HMRC and Companies House charge penalties for late filing. A task for every deadline, with an internal date before it, gives the team a buffer.
Nothing depends on memory
Recorded tasks mean work continues when someone is off sick, on leave or has left the firm.
Consistent quality
Subtask checklists make every job follow the same steps and reviews, whoever does the work.
Visibility for managers
Filters by owner, status and deadline show at a glance what is late, what is due and who needs help.
Practical tips from UK practice
- Set an internal deadline two to four weeks before every statutory deadline.
- Use recurring tasks for repeat work such as VAT, payroll and bookkeeping.
- Break larger jobs into subtasks, including a review step.
- Comment on the task instead of by email, so the history stays with the work.
