In short: An annual Companies House filing confirming that a company's registered information is up to date.
The confirmation statement, filed on form CS01, confirms details such as registered office, officers, shareholders, SIC codes and the PSC register. It is due at least once every 12 months, within 14 days of the review date.
It is not a set of accounts and carries no filing penalty in the way accounts do, but persistent failure to file can lead to a company being struck off and prosecution of officers.
It is easy to miss because it is cheap and quick, and easy to automate because the due date is predictable.
