ECCTA reshaped Companies House from a passive register into an active gatekeeper: querying information, verifying identities, tightening registered office rules and requiring registered email addresses.
It also created the failure to prevent fraud offence for large organisations and restricted who can file on a company's behalf.
Most of the recent changes to company secretarial work in practice trace back to this Act.
