Tasks
Columns, Freeze and Filters
A long task list is only useful if you can find the right work in it. Remindoo's task filters let you narrow the list by the details that matter in practice and combine conditions for more precise views.
Built for UK accountants, bookkeepers and growing accountancy practices.
In practice
How it works
Every role in a practice needs a different view of the same work. A tax manager wants Self Assessment jobs by deadline; a partner wants high-priority billable work; an ops lead wants to see what is unassigned. Remindoo's Column Visibility dialog lets you show any of 20 columns, grouped into Task information, Assignment Details, Progress Tracking, Scheduling, Billing & Classification and Actions. Reorder them with the numbered dropdowns and freeze up to five so key columns such as Name and Client Name stay in place while you scroll across priority, progress, type and deadlines. Then narrow the list with filters. Build a condition with a field, an operator and a value (for example Status is Not started) using fields such as Assignees, Billable, Client Name, Client Type, Creation Date and External Deadline. Add as many conditions as you need, such as Priority is High and Billable is Yes, then Save & Apply Filter. Active filters appear as chips above the table that you can remove one at a time, and the status tab counts update to match, giving each person the exact set of jobs to review.
Choose, reorder and freeze columns
Show any of 20 columns grouped by task information, assignment, progress, scheduling, billing and actions. Reorder with the dropdown and freeze up to five so they stay visible while you scroll.
What you can see
- Column Visibility dialog with a frozen-column counter (2/5 frozen).
- Groups: Task information, Assignment Details, Progress Tracking, Scheduling, Billing & Classification, Actions.
- Numbered columns such as Name, Priority, Services, Status, Progress Status, Timer and Estimated Time.
- Freeze icon on each column, with an "Unfreeze column" tooltip.
- Reorder dropdown beside each column and a Search columns box.
Why it matters: Each user can set up the task table to match how they review work.
Frozen columns stay put
With Name and Client Name frozen, scroll across priority, progress, type and deadlines without losing your place.
What you can see
- Name and Client Name frozen on the left.
- Priority, Progress, Type and External Deadline scrolling alongside.
- Kestrel Logistics Ltd linked in the Client Name column.
- Colour-coded external deadlines such as 30-11-2026 and 13-10-2026.
Why it matters: You always know which job and client a row belongs to, however far you scroll.
Filter on any field
Assignees, billable, client name, client type, creation date, deadlines, priority, status and more.
What you can see
- Filter Your Tasks Here dialog with a results count.
- Filter 1 built from Where field, operator ("is") and value (Not started).
- Searchable field list: Assignees, Billable, Client Name, Client Type, Creation Date, External Deadline.
- Delete (bin) icon to remove a condition.
- Save & Apply Filter button.
Why it matters: Filtering on any field gives each person exactly the jobs relevant to them.
Combine conditions
Add as many conditions as you need, for example Priority is High and Billable is Yes.
What you can see
- Filter 1: Priority is High.
- Filter 2: Billable is Yes.
- Green ticks confirming each condition is complete.
- Add Condition button for more rules.
- Save & Apply Filter button.
Why it matters: Combined conditions pinpoint the work with the biggest effect on fees and deadlines.
Results and filter chips
Active filters show as chips you can remove one by one, and the status tab counts update to match.
What you can see
- Chips reading "Priority is equal to High" and "Billable is equal to Yes", each with a remove (x).
- Filter icon badge showing the number of active filters.
- Status tab counts updated to the filtered results.
- Filtered rows with High priority, such as Year-end accounts prep FY26 for Kestrel Logistics Ltd.
Why it matters: You can see and adjust what is being filtered at a glance.
Filter by what matters
- Tag
- Status
- Assignee
- Client
- Service
- Deadline
Combine conditions
Build a filter from a field, a condition and a value, then add more conditions to narrow the list, for example, VAT tasks assigned to one bookkeeper that are due this month.
Use filters in daily reviews
Managers can check overdue work, unassigned tasks or one service line before a team meeting without exporting anything.
Example: January Self Assessment review
- Filter by the Self Assessment service.
- Add a condition for tasks not yet completed.
- Add a deadline condition for the coming fortnight and reassign anything at risk.
Illustrative example, adapt it to your own practice's process.
Frequently asked questions

Why recording every task matters in an accountancy practice
Accounting firms run on deadlines: VAT returns, payroll, confirmation statements, accounts and Self Assessment. Recording every job as a task, with an owner and a date, is the simplest way to make sure nothing is missed.
Avoid penalties
HMRC and Companies House charge penalties for late filing. A task for every deadline, with an internal date before it, gives the team a buffer.
Nothing depends on memory
Recorded tasks mean work continues when someone is off sick, on leave or has left the firm.
Consistent quality
Subtask checklists make every job follow the same steps and reviews, whoever does the work.
Visibility for managers
Filters by owner, status and deadline show at a glance what is late, what is due and who needs help.
Practical tips from UK practice
- Set an internal deadline two to four weeks before every statutory deadline.
- Use recurring tasks for repeat work such as VAT, payroll and bookkeeping.
- Break larger jobs into subtasks, including a review step.
- Comment on the task instead of by email, so the history stays with the work.
