Tasks
Task Management for Accountants: The Complete Guide
Every service you sell becomes work your team has to deliver. Remindoo Tasks turns services into jobs with subtasks, review checklists, timers, deadlines and owners, then lets you run the whole practice from a table, a Kanban board or a single task workspace. This guide walks through every part of the Tasks module with real product screenshots.
Built for UK accountants, bookkeepers and growing accountancy practices.
How it works
A UK accounting practice runs on deadlines it does not set. Companies House filing dates, CT600 returns, Self Assessment on 31 January and quarterly VAT returns all arrive whatever the team's workload looks like. Remindoo Tasks gives every one of those jobs an owner, a status and two dates: an internal deadline your team works to and an external deadline that reflects the statutory or client date. The task list shows all work in a single table with status tabs for Not started, In-Progress, Awaiting Feedback, Complete, Archived and Snooze, so partners and managers can see where the practice stands in seconds. Switch to the Kanban board to watch work flow by status, or open any task to work it in the task workspace, where each phase of the job is a subtask with its own timer, instructions and progress bar. Jobs created from services such as Accounts - Year End + CT600 bring their estimated time and subtasks with them, recurring tasks take care of payroll, bookkeeping and WIP reviews, and review checklists capture preparer, reviewer and approver sign-off. When you need a second opinion, AI Task Analysis reads the task and reports deadline risk, blockers and next steps. The result is practice management software that shows capacity, accountability and risk in one place.

Frequently asked questions
What is task management software for accountants?
Software that turns each client service into a job with owners, deadlines, subtasks and time tracking, so the practice can see what is due, who is doing it and what is at risk. In Remindoo this is the Tasks module.
Can tasks be created automatically from services?
Yes. When you link a task to a service such as Accounts - Year End + CT600, Remindoo pulls in the estimated time and the service's subtasks (for example Chasing Information, Accounts Preparation, Internal Review & QA and Client Review).
Does Remindoo support recurring tasks?
Yes. Any task can repeat weekdays, daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly or yearly, ending after a number of tasks, on a date, or never.
Can I track time on tasks?
Yes. Each subtask has its own timer, and the task keeps a global time log of who logged time, when and for how long.
Is there a Kanban view?
Yes. Switch between table and Kanban with one click and choose which fields appear on the cards.
Does Remindoo show internal and statutory deadlines separately?
Yes. Every task carries an Internal Deadline and an External Deadline, shown in the task list, on Kanban cards and in the task workspace header.
Can I see all my practice's tasks in one place?
Yes. The task list shows every job with status tabs, assignees, partner, managers and deadlines, and you can switch to a Kanban board with one click.

Why recording every task matters in an accountancy practice
Accounting firms run on deadlines: VAT returns, payroll, confirmation statements, accounts and Self Assessment. Recording every job as a task, with an owner and a date, is the simplest way to make sure nothing is missed.
Avoid penalties
HMRC and Companies House charge penalties for late filing. A task for every deadline, with an internal date before it, gives the team a buffer.
Nothing depends on memory
Recorded tasks mean work continues when someone is off sick, on leave or has left the firm.
Consistent quality
Subtask checklists make every job follow the same steps and reviews, whoever does the work.
Visibility for managers
Filters by owner, status and deadline show at a glance what is late, what is due and who needs help.
Practical tips from UK practice
- Set an internal deadline two to four weeks before every statutory deadline.
- Use recurring tasks for repeat work such as VAT, payroll and bookkeeping.
- Break larger jobs into subtasks, including a review step.
- Comment on the task instead of by email, so the history stays with the work.
